Can you help give the Gift of Sight? Erin is our little blind Bichon ex-breeding girl and Mace is an ex poundie and is a bit of a heinz. Both are blind. They have recently been to see an Ophthalmic specialist to find out if their blindness is curable. ![]() Erin is completely blind in both eyes due to cataracts. She does see light and dark but otherwise has no sight at all. The cataracts are operable and although there are no guarantees she should regain her sight if surgery is carried out. It would be possible to operate on one eye and that would give her enough vision to improve her quality of life. ![]() Mace is more complicated. His left eye has such bad scarring that it is past repair. Something has happened to it at some time in his life that has caused so much damage that he has no sight in it at all. Even the lens has been dislodged and sits at the bottom of his eye. The eye does not need to be removed as it causes him no pain although there is a slight possibility that this could be needed at sometime in his life. His right eye has a cataract and his sight is probably nil. Although he is suitable for cataract removal surgery his lens is peeling away so this would need to be removed during surgery which is a little different to the way this type of surgery is usually carried out. Mace is aware of light and dark. The total cost for Erin's two eyes and Mace would be £4.391.96 which would include a 24 hour examination and another after 7 days. Any further checkups would be at an additional cost. |
